Dewey Victor Tallent

Mr. Dewey Victor Tallent, 81, of Franklin, NC, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026. He was born August 21, 1944, in Macon County, NC to the late Gladys Edwards and Hiram Tallent.

Dewey retired from General Motors, having worked on the assembly line and as a mechanic and track driver for many years. He could often be found visiting and hanging out at Franklin Discount Furniture Store. Dewey had a funny personality and loved to help other people. He also really loved guns. Dewey will be remembered as a good man.

He is survived by his partner, Elaine Carver; his children, Kathryn Tallent, Rebecca Talley (James), Doyle Allen Adas (Dorthia), Joshua Talley (Emily), and Tonya Pope (Derrick); his grandchildren, Mirakel Adams and Courtney Scott; and his great-grandchildren, Johnny Scott, Cole Scott, Damien Estes, and Khinley Talley.

In addition to his parents, Dewey was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Downs, and his brother, Mack Tallent.

A Private service will be held and burial will follow at Iolta Baptist Church Cemetery.
