Diann Elizabeth (Doolittle) Brooks

Ms. Diann Elizabeth Brooks, 80, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at her home in Sylva. Ms. Brooks was born July 28, 1939 in Herkimer Co. New York to the late Harvey Melvin Doolittle and Gertrude Dye Doolittle. She worked and retired as a private caregiver after many years. She was a resident of Macon County, NC from 1976-2006 before moving to her home in Jackson, Co. She had a great love for pets especially dogs and horses. Diann was a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her life partner, Tom Hixon of the home; three sons, James Richard Brooks and wife, Melinda of Athens, Tenn., Butch Brooks and wife, Mona of Otto, NC, and John Brooks of Sylva, NC; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Ms. Brooks was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Brooks; a daughter, Jacquline Sata; a sister, Leona Shell; and 2 brothers, Robert Miller and Stanley Miller.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held by her family at her home.
