Donald Hugh Mcconnell

Donald Hugh McConnell, 71, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018.

Mr. McConnell was born March 26, 1947 in Macon County to the late George McConnell and Gladys Thomas McConnell. Don was a carpenter in the construction business; he served in the U.S. Army; and he loved to hunt and fish. Don was also known as the “Mower Man”.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kathy McConnell of the home; a daughter, Christy McConnell of Franklin; a son, Chad McConnell (Kelly) of Franklin; grandchildren, Johnathan Deats (Megan), Christopher Deats (Melissa), Kenzie Bouakhamphong, Christian McConnell, Chyenne McConnell, Hannah McConnell, and Nathan Walker; two great-grandchildren, Aden Deats and Syler Deats. A sister, Bea Carpenter of Franklin; and a brother, Rondal McConnell of Monroe, GA.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Elizabeth McConnell and a brother, Dennis McConnell.

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 in the chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Rodriquez officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 108 and VFW 7339.
