Doris Crowe Picklesimer

Highlands, NC - Doris Crowe Picklesimer age 76, of Highlands, NC, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013. She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late Alvin C. and Pearl Reed Crowe. She was a retired teacher for Highlands Head Start. She was a loving wife, mother, grand and great grandmother, she loved her music, reading and taking care of other people. She was a member of Highlands United Methodist Church, where she was on the worship committee, a former organist, and head of nurture and membership care committee. She was an active member of the Order of The Eastern Star, former worthy matron and organist. Doris gave generously of herself in tireless and endless service. She was loved greatly, and we are proud of the witness she showed to all by loving, caring, and sharing with humility to everyone.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clark. N. Picklesimer; a daughter, Terri P. Crowe and her husband Ronnie of Franklin, NC; a son, Greg Picklesimer and his wife Jeanne of Newington, CT; four brothers, Joe Crowe of Manassas, VA; Wayne Crowe and Merlin Crowe both of Highlands, NC and Junior Crowe of Franklin, NC; four grandchildren, Natalie Dendy, Michelle Pendergrass, Nathaniel and Joshua Picklesimer; one great grandchild, Taylor Pendergrass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Morris Crowe.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 7th at 2:00 pm at Highlands United Methodist Church, with Rev. Paul Christy and Rev. Beth Bowser officiating. Burial will be in Picklesimer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Saturday, at the Church.
