Dorothy Moore Martin

Hayesville - Dorothy Moore Martin, age 86, of Hayesville, NC passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at a Sylva Hospital. She was born in Harrison County, TN. the daughter of the late Ernest and Lula Crowder Moore. She was married to Thomas Albert Martin who passed away February 02, 2006. She was a secretary for Boice Supply Company for over 40 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated with honors from Hayesville High School in 1945. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, watching her hummingbirds, loved Braves baseball. She was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and Secretary Treasurer. She loved reading and Billy Graham. She was fondly remembered by many as "Granny Dot".

She is survived by a daughter, Vivian Martin Cloer & husband, Steve of Bryson City, NC; two sons, Ronald L. Martin & wife, Kathy of Hayesville, NC and Donald L. Martin & wife, Jodie of Hayesville, NC; two brothers, Harrell Moore & wife Gerita of Hayesville, NC and Hartsell Moore of Hayesville, NC; grandchildren, Keisha McClure, Craig Martin, Adam Martin, Kaila Day, Amanda Cloer and Ryan Martin; great-grandchildren, Blake, Taylor, and Caden McClure and Kenadee Day.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, at 6:00 PM at Meadow Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Rogers and Rev. Brandon Arrowood officiating. Burial will be held at Meadow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Craig Martin, Adam Martin, Chad McClure, Jake Day, Elliott Arrowood and Tommy Hooper.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00-6:00 PM at Meadow Grove Baptist Church, two hours prior to the service.
