Dorothy Dreher Mcquitty

Franklin, N.C, - Dorothy Dreher McQuitty, 82, of Franklin, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at Mountain Trace Nursing Center.

She was born in Greensboro, NC to the late Amzi Bond (A. B.) and Bonnie Bellwood Dreher, July 16, 1932. She was married to the late Reverend Eric McQuitty for 56 years. She was a first grade teacher at Pine Grove Elementary School in Shreveport, LA and was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in America.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Andy McQuitty (Alice) of Irvin, TX, Tim McQuitty (Dana) of Franklin, NC and Phil McQuitty (Mary Chris) of South Riding, VA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Julie McQuitty Rhodes, Elizabeth McQuitty, Bonnie McQuitty, Eric McQuitty, Jonathan McQuitty, Anna McQuitty, Jeffery McQuitty, Susannah McQuitty, Phillip McQuitty, Samuel McQuitty, Hattie McQuitty, Calvin McQuitty, and two great grandchildren, Andrew Rhodes and Madeline Rhodes.

Funeral services are to be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in America at 3:00 pm with Rev. Philip Sealy officiating.

The body is at Bryant Grant Funeral Home and will be taken to the church on the day of the funeral where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.

Following the service, her body will be taken to Shreveport, LA, where she will be buried next to her late husband at the Centuries Memorial Cemetery.
