Dorothy Jane Anderson Pendergrass

Dorothy Jane Anderson Pendergrass, 92, of Columbia, South Carolina, departed this earthly life to be with her heavenly Father on February 1, 2026. She was born on February 23, 1933 in Franklin, North Carolina, to the late Fred Anderson and the late Parilee Anderson.

She worked for K-mart in Columbia, South Carolina and retired in 1998 after more than 27 years of employment. Upon retirement, she devoted her time to her grandchildren, one of her greatest joys in life. She also began a second career working at Michaels for several years.

She is survived by her children, Anne Pendergrass of Columbia South Carolina, Mary Pendergrass of Columbia, South Carolina, Rick Pendergrass of Elgin, South Carolina and Tim Pendergrass of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren, Leigh Pendergrass, Brandon Pendergrass and Spencer Gray all of Columbia, South Carolina; great granddaughter, Lula Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Shelley Pendergrass of Columbia, South Carolina; brother, Wiley “Boots” Anderson, of Chico, Texas; sisters, Sally Bates of Stockbridge, Georgia, Margie Fitzpatrick of Gilbert, South Carolina, Barbara (Donald) Bates of Franklin, North Carolina and Nina (Butch) Randall of Franklin, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Mae Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Urban Alexander Pendergrass; her parents; stepfather Wiley Anderson (daddy); brothers, Bobby Anderson and Truman Anderson; sisters-in-law, Effie Anderson and Glenda Anderson; brothers-in-law, Gene Bates and Larry Fitzpatrick.

Visitation will be at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. The funeral service will be at Grant Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00am with Rev. Donald Bates officiating. Following the service, burial will be at Tippett Cemetery.
