Douglas "Mike" Mitchell Sherrill

Mr. Douglas “Mike” Mitchell Sherrill, 68, of Franklin, NC passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 8, 2025. He was born January 14, 1957 in Swain Co., NC to the late Douglas Bryson Sherrill and Hazel Cline Sawyer.

Mike is survived by his wife of 26 years, Donna Cunningham Sherrill; stepdaughter, Autumn Corbin (Allen); granddaughters, Kenzee Heath (Nate), Rylee Corbin (Blake Gibson), Bentlee Corbin; greatgrandchildren, Huxton and Harper; sister and brother-in law, Kathy and Gene McDonald; niece Mandy Medlen (Charlie); nephew, Justin Norton; special great nephews, Owen Medlen, Parker Medlen, Mason Norton and Hunter Radtke; stepfather, Joe Sawyer (Kate); stepmother, Corina Sherrill; aunt, Kathryn Styles; uncles, Jack Sherrill, Kenneth Cline (Terri), Charles Cline (Jo Ellen); cousin, Leslie Douthit Bolick; and his two fur babies, Izzy and Jessie Mae.

He was an avid deer hunter, bird hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed camping with his wife, Donna and his dog Izzy. Mike retired as a sales Rep. with Nabisco after 25 years of service. He liked returning to the grocery stores to visit and catch up on current events with his friends, two or three times a week.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Windy Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Bishop and Rev. Brian Browning officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 till 11:00 AM prior to the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Pruitt, Joe Coons, Mike Parris, Authur Phillips, Bruce McCauley, and Roger Dehart.
