Eddis Holbrook Hall

Winston Salem - Mrs. Eddis Holbrook Hall, 97, entered eternal rest on October 15, 2011 when she passed away peacefully at her home in Winston-Salem. She was born on December 11, 1913 in Franklin, NC to the late James Robert and Mattie Pearl Holbrook, one of ten children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Hayes Hall, who died in 1988. She was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church, the Mary Martha Sunday School Class and the Senior Citizens Club. Since her birth in 1913, she was also a member of Cowee Baptist Church in Franklin.

Eddis spent her summers in Franklin but when cool weather arrived, she returned to her home in Winston-Salem. She will be remembered for her dedication to both her churches where she remained active almost to the end of her life. She was a wonderful cook and will be long remembered for her pound cakes and cheese rings which she lovingly made for friends and family.

Eddis did not have children but she truly loved her stepfamily and treated them as her own. Surviving members of her stepfamily are one son-in-law, William R. Nunn, Jr., of Bermuda Run; four grandchildren, Herbert R. Hall, Jr. (Fleeta), Judy Everhart (Clarence), Daughn Eagan (David) all of Winston-Salem; and Gordon Nunn of Pittsburgh, PA; and six great-grandchildren, Brooke DiSorbo (Steve), Sandy Hall, Christopher and Kerry Eagan, and Ryan and Lane Everhart.

The family is grateful to her special neighbors, Steve and Judy Motsinger, who made dinner for her every Saturday night and helped her in so many ways.
