Edith Elizabeth (Bryson) Jennings

Edith Elizabeth Bryson Jennings, 81, of Franklin, NC passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 in an Asheville hospital.  Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Van Bryson; her step‑father, Vernon Bumgarner who died in 1976 and Nellie Evitt Bumgarner. She was married to Bennett Jennings who preceded her in death in 2010.

Mrs. Jennings was a loving mother and grandmother and was a friend to all. She loved reading, especially her Bible, and she loved gardening and flowers.  She was a member of Yellow Mtn. Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Connor of Franklin; one son, Stephen Jennings and wife Emma of Franklin; one sister, Bertha Watson and husband J. L. of Franklin, nine grandchildren and 14 great‑grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Jennings; two sisters, Jessie Rogers and Vivian Bryson and two brothers, Eloth and Carl Bumgarner.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Norris and Rev. Jamie Passmore officiating.  Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Keith Connor, Bobby Connor, Steven Connor, Tim Jennings, Casey Jennings, Kyle Jennings and Dexter Jennings. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 ‑ 8:00 pm at Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home.
