Edith Cunningham Byrd

Edith Cunningham Byrd, age 93, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late Grady and Nina Curtis Cunningham. She was married to the late William "Bill" Byrd. She was an assistant Clerk of Court for 35 years. She was a member of Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and was active in community development of Western Conference.

She is survived by her daughter‑in‑law, Rita Morgan Byrd of Franklin, NC; a son, Thomas Byrd and his wife, Shanda of Moncks Corner, SC; a sister, Betty Foster of Cornelia, GA; grandchildren, Steven Byrd and his wife Rhonda, Jonathan Byrd, Keith Byrd and his wife Crystal, Kristi Gray and her husband, Jim , Charles Byrd and his wife Amy, Meg Dougharty and husband Joe, Kelli Eadie and her husband Mike; great grandchildren, Hunter, Page, Sarah, Morgan and Madison Byrd, Carter Buffkin, Dalton Gray, Ashley Byrd, Lucas Ackerman, Jacob Daugharty, Brandon Craven and Zac Craven.

She was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Eugene Byrd who passed away April 10, 1996, two sisters, Dorothy Ledford and Nell Cunningham; a brother, Robert Cunningham.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 29 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with Rev. David Crunkleton and Rev. Mike Bias officiating. Burial will be held at Gillispie Chapel Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 29 from 10:30‑12:00 PM at Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home.
