Edith Sanders Conley

Franklin, NC - Edith Sanders Conley, age 88, of Franklin, NC passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Jess L. and Ida Shope Sanders. She was married to Rondal Conley who passed away in 1964.

Mrs. Conley was a nurse for Dr. Choi for 12 years; was a Girl Scout leader; a Sunday school teacher, and worked for United States Forest Service Older Americans Program. She was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church. She was a feisty, loving mother and mamaw.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynne C. Rogers and husband Ray of Franklin, NC, Melinda C. Buchanan and husband Dennis of Hartford, TN; three sisters, Olivia Reece of South Carolina, Betty Owens of Charlotte, NC and Amelia Trull of Hendersonville, NC; five brothers, Harris Sanders of Flat Rock, NC, Jess "Sonny" Sanders of Asheville, NC; Jimmy Sanders and Jay Sanders both of Franklin, NC; four grandchildren, Kenneth Rogers and wife Deborah, Jessica Black and husband Everett, Edward Laughter and wife Rebekiah and Maxell Laughter and one great granddaughter, Zoey Black.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Steven Conley; three sisters, Willa Stiles, Margaret Harrison, and Belle S. Walters and two brothers, Charles Sanders and Tim Sanders.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Drinnon officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Rogers, Edward Laughter, Maxwell Laughter, Everett Black, Tommy Nicholson and Kevin Sanders. The family will receive friends, Tuesday from 2:00 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Prentiss Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Faye Wilson, 605 Middle Skeenah Rd., Franklin, NC 28734.
