Edna Mae (Brendle) Sanders

Franklin, NC-

Edna Mae Brendle Sanders, 90, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Sanders was born November 12, 1926 in Macon County to the late Frank Miller Brendle and Nobia Bell Sanders Brendle. Edna was married to the late Mack Sanders who preceded her in 1989. She was a waitress for 47 years having worked at Cagle’s and B&D Restaurant. She was a member of the Watauga Baptist Church. Mrs. Edna loved to clean house and decorate her home but most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Survivors include her two daughters, Joyce Carpenter and Brenda Delgado (Sam) both of Franklin; a daughter-in-law, Carol Sanders of Franklin; grandchildren, Rodney Sanders (Renee), Christie Stanfield (Mike), Russell Sanders, and Laura Sanders; great-grandchildren, Nathan Sanders, Katie Sanders, Nicholas Sanders, Luke Sanders, Emily Sanders, and Christopher Stanfield; three sisters, Doris Green of Easley, SC, Betty Guest and Wanda Berry both of Franklin; and a brother, Ernest Brendle of Franklin.

Mrs. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Mack Sanders, a son, Roger “Booty” Sanders in April 2017; son-in-law, Jim Carpenter; and a grandson, Ryan Sanders.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Watauga Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Lowe and Rev. Wesley Price officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home & Crematory.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Sanders, Russell Sanders, Luke Sanders, Nathan Sanders, Nicholas Sanders, Sam Delgado, Rick Cassada and Ernie Brendle. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Stanfield, Mike Stanfield, Christie Stanfield, Katie Sanders, and Emily Sanders.
