Otto - Edward Carpenter age 93 of Otto passed away Friday December 14, 2012. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late William Harley and Jennie Louise Norton Carpenter. He was married to Catherine Pitts Carpenter who passed away in 2008. Mr. Carpenter was manager of Piggy Back Operations for Southern Railway in Macon, Ga. He was self employed for several years and retired from Kimsey Egg Company. He loved all kinds of sports, especially UNC basketball and gardening. He was a member of Franklin VFW Post 7339 and Newman Chapel Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Masters of Ackworth, GA, Jessie Pitt and husband Wade of Tallahassee, FL and Annette Carpenter of Otto, NC, two sons, Tommy Carpenter and wife Carolyn of Highlands, NC and Richard Carpenter and wife Debbie of Mt. Juliet, TN. One brother, Harley Carpenter Jr. of Franklin, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Newman Chapel Baptist Church with Rev Alton Dendy and Rev Danny Cannon officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Masters, David Jones, Gunar Williams, Ritchie Jones, William Burns, Casey Carpenter, David Pitts, Eugene Pitts and Ralph Kimsey. Macon Valley Rehab and Therapy employees will be honorary pallbearers. Franklin VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will recieve friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Newman Chapel Cemetery Fund, 60 Mulberry Road, Otto, NC
