Ella Mae Houston

Franklin, NC - Ella Mae Houston, age 78, of Higdon Road, Franklin, NC, passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Jeff and Lucille Moore Russell. She was retired from the Ecusta Paper and was a member of Glady Branch Baptist Church in Brevard, NC. She was born and raised on Lake Glenville and enjoyed the water. She enjoyed traveling and geneology. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lawton E. Houston; one son, Allan E. Houston and his wife, Rebecca of Grand Junction, TN; one sister, Virgie Ray Thomas of Hiawassee, GA; one brother J.W. Russell of White Oak, NC; two grandchildren, Laura A. Houston a graduate student of Washington University, St. Louis, MO and Brian A. Houston, MD of Johns Hopkins Hospital of Baltimore, MD.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Higdonville Baptist Church. Larry Raby, Bobby Jo Houston, and Gary Taylor will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 28 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bryant Grant Funeral Home.
