Elmira Hedden

Franklin, NC - Elmira Hedden, age 83, of Walnut Creek Road, Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, June 2, 2008 in a local hospital. She was a native of Macon County, the daughter of the late William Jack Berry and Anna Gertrude Coggins Berry.

She was a homemaker and was a Charter member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, and the Church Custodian for years. She was a quilt maker and a loving caregiver to her church, commuinity and family.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Ernest Hedden; one daughter, Sharon Hunt and her husband Bob of Franklin, NC; three sons, Billy Hedden and his wife Linda of Franklin, NC, Steve Hedden and his wife Viola of Athens, AL and Sammy Hedden of Franklin, NC; six sisters, Lora Hedden of Waynesville, NC, Edlay Pruitt of Franklin, NC, Marie Hedden of Candler, NC, Martha Dowdle of Clayton, GA, Mattie Devlin of Candler, NC and Virginia Dills of Franklin, NC; one brother, William A. Berry of Franklin, NC; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William E. Berry, William J. Berry, and William Jack Berry, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 5th at 11:00am in the Chapel of Byrant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Wesley Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Strain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin Hedden, Jonathan Hedden, Andrew Hedden, Dave McLennan, Jason Brooks, and James Hedden.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am, Thursday, one hour prior to the service at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
