Elwood "Woody" Leroy Kappen

Elwood "Woody" LeRoy Kappen, 81, of Franklin passed away Monday, July 27, 2015.  Born in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Otto and Eleanor Hacker Kappen.  He is survived by his wife, Geneva Faye Hall Kappen.

Mr. Kappen was owner of Abdon Trucking in Lakeland, FL; he participated in Macon County Senior Games; was a member of Men Macon Music and loved to bowl.  He was active in his church choir and "The Potter" Sunday School Class.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Kellie Boatright of Hendersonville, TN; a step‑daughter, Cheryl Lyle of Florida; one son, Kenneth Kappen of Louisville, KY; two step‑sons, Allen Lyle and Herchel Lyle both of Florida; three grandchildren, Kelsey and Kasey Boatright of Tennessee and Jimmy Kappen of Florida and one great‑granddaughter, Addison of Tennessee.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11:00 am at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Seagle and Rev. Brandon Breedlove officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Mr. Kappen’s memory to Holly Springs Baptist Church, 366 Holly Springs Church Rd., Franklin, NC 28734.  Please designate either Building Fund or Playground Fund on the check memo line.
