Ernest W. Cabe

Ernest "Buster" Wilson Cabe, Jr., age 97 of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016.  He was born in Jackson County, NC the son of Ernest Wilson Cabe, Sr., and Maggie Barron Cabe.  He retired from the NC Department of Transportation.  Mr. Cabe was a Charter member of the Franklin Church of God.  He was a very devoted member, serving on the Pastor’s  Council, as church clerk, and on the finance committee.  He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII, with the 10th Mountain Division, and a life member of Franklin VFW Post #7339.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Annie Faye Cabe.

He is survived by two daughters, Ida Louise Coggins (Gerald) of Whittier, NC and Sandra Shepherd (Dale) of Franklin, NC; four sons, Jack W. Cabe (Julia), Howard Doug Cabe (Barbara) and Terry M. Cabe (Jan) all of Franklin, NC and Larry B. Cabe (Joyce) of Waynesville, NC; a brother, Howard Cabe of Pennsecola, FL; 13 grandchildren,  15 great‑grandchildren and three great‑great‑grandchildren also survive.  In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Keener, three sisters, Edna Cabe, Mabel Potts and Annie Dee Cabe; five brothers, Henry, Leon, Ralph, Clyde, and Wiley Cabe.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Franklin Church of God, with Rev. Michael J. Stephens, Rev. Hank Conners and Evangelist Crystal Crupi officiating. Honorary Pastors Rev. David Powell and Rev. Jason Smith.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.  Grandsons, Michael Peek, Steve Peek, Brian Cabe, Brent Cabe, Patrick Cabe, Adam Mills and Bob Kelley will serve as pallbearers.
