Franklin, N.C. - Mrs. Essie Virginia Lequire, 84, of Franklin passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Angel Medical Center. Mrs. Essie was born in Swain County to the late R.C. and Alice Franklin Hughes. She was married to Vester Lequire for 63 years. She worked for Burlington Industries as a machine operator for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved being a flower gardener; was a great cook and was a member of the Mt. Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons and their spouses, Vester Lequire Jr. (Jerri), of Franklin and Mike Lequire (Renee) of Anderson, SC; three brothers and their spouses, Hubert Hughes (Ann) of Oxford, AL, Robert Lee Hughes (Mary) of San Antonio, TX and F.D. Hughes (Irene) of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Blake, Jonathan, Megan, Brittany, Brooke, Brittiny, Morgan, Karley and five great grandchildren, Kiley, Houston, Rowen, Holton, and Aislynn.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. David Lee Williams and Rev. Roy Lowe officiating.

Burial will be in Luada Cemetery in Swain County. Pallbearers will be B.J Keener, Clinton Mashburn, Jonathan Keener, Brad Campbell, Blake Sheffield and Chris Barnes. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
