Franklin, NC - Ester Mae Bates Williams, age 76, of Franklin, NC, passed away April 4, 2015. She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late Mack and Dicey Stiwinter Bates. She was married to the late Woodrow Williams. She had worked as a machine operator in a cotton mill and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She liked gardening and was a fantastic cook.

She is survived by five daughters, Betty Sue Fisher of Franklin, NC, Aretha Hill of Marion, NC, Linda Landers of Simpsonville, SC, Vicki Williams of Statesville, NC and Tamra Kaczka of Monroe, Ohio; three sons, Lonnie Melton, Jr. of Cornelius, NC, Steve Williams of Charlotte, NC and Chad Melton of Franklin, NC; three sisters, Betty Sue Maney of Franklin, NC, Frances McCall of Cleveland, GA and Louann Wilson of Robbinsville, NC; twenty one grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Melton; two sisters, Christine Webb and Louise Webb; and two brothers, Wilburn Bates and Jr. Bates.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11th at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home, with Rev.John Raby officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday evening at Bryant Grant Funeral Home.
