Evelyn Brendle Mashburn

Franklin, NC - Evelyn Brendle Mashburn, 83, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 in an Asheville hospital. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late John Blanchard and Gladys Parker Brendle. She was married to Charles "Charlie" Franklin Mashburn who died in 1969.

Mrs. Mashburn was a loving mother and grandmother and loved gardening, cooking and canning. She was a member of Watauga Baptist Church and attended East Franklin Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Brendell and husband Owen of Hendersonville, NC and Sandra Mitchell and husband Gene of Franklin, NC; two sons, Allan Mashburn and William Mashburn and wife Shirley all of Franklin, NC; a son-in-law, Dennis Ashe; six sisters, Maxine Hester of Greenville, SC, Lucille Wolfe of Landrum, SC, Deloris Thomas of Greenville, SC, Marvel Curtis of Franklin, NC, Linda Emory of Greenville, NC and Sonja Brannon of Taylors, SC; two brothers, Dale Brendle of Franklin, NC and Doug Brendle of Taylors, SC; two grandchildren, Stephanie McCraw and husband Michael and Angela Mashburn and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ashe; a son, Larry Mashburn; a sister, Jo Ann Stewart and a brother, J. B. Brendle, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 10, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Matthews and Rev. Gary McDaniels officiating. Burial will be in Watauga Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Mason, Fred Campbell, Christopher Brannon, Brian Hester, Tony Curtis, Darrell Bell and Doug Brendle. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to East Franklin Baptist Church, 74 Coon Creek Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
