Frank D.R. Corpening

Frank D. R. Corpening, 85, of Franklin, NC, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018.  He was born in Macon County, the son of the late William Robert Corpening and Myrtle Lewis Corpening.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Corpening who died in 2008.  He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Mr. Corpening was a cook at the hospital for many years,  he loved his job and he loved to walk.  He was a US Army Veteran and a faithful member of Prentiss Church of God.

Survivors include his three children, Kevin Corpening and his wife Colleen, Keith Corpening and Teresa Corpening all of Franklin, NC; one grandchild, W. R. Corpening of Franklin, NC, a sister, Jane Brannon (Curtis) of Charleston, WV; niece and nephew, Pam and Mark Brannon both of Charleston, WV; nieces and nephews, Gene Corpening (Ovie) of Toccoa, GA, Betty Justice (Doug) of Kentucky, Connie Corpening, Kathy Corpening, and Marty Smith (Ed) all of Georgia, Jimmy Thurmond (Linda) of Franklin and Joe Thurmond (Terry) of Georgia.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde, Rob, Burt and George Corpening and two sisters, Kay Corpening and Kate Arnold.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Chapman and Rev. Don Moffitt officiating. A military gravside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery by the American Legion Post 108 and VFW Post 7339.  Pallbearers will be John Cook, Dewayne Smith, Karl Gillespie, Lyman Holland, Jimmy Thurmond and Christopher Wright.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
