Franklin Delano Lequire

Franklin Delano Lequire, 92 of Franklin passed away June 1, 2025. Born in Swain County and later relocating to Franklin due to the construction of Fontana Dam. He was the son of the late William Henderson Lequire and Martha Taylor Lequire.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harley, Carl & Hansel Lequire, five sisters, Polly Cook, Della Cook, Beulah Cunningham, Annie Rogers & Ruth Wooten. He enjoyed gardening, genealogy, visiting Cades Cove where many family members are buried and spending time with his family. He was a US Army Veteran. He worked at Belden Electric Cord Products for many years, as well as CR Industries & Coweeta Hydrological Lab. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margie Wooten Lequire, two daughters, Debbie Wallace (Larry), Diane Baldwin (Danny), three grandchildren, Derek Wallace (Sandie), Lindsay Rumans (Chris), Karri Vaughn (Kyle), five great grandchildren, Kendall Rumans, Landon Wallace, Cooper Wildcat, Jace Rumans, Bryce Wallace, one sister, Rozelle Angel (Bobby), and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul bearers will be Derek Wallace, Landon Wallace, Cooper Wildcat, Jace Rumans, Bryce Wallace, Chris Rumans, Kyle Vaughn and Cadan Vaughn. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 till 3:00 PM. Chaplain Donny Edwards will officiate. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. American Legion Post 108 and VFW Post 7739 will conduct military rights. The family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff at Macon Valley Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
