Gary Crawford Brewer

Gary Crawford Brewer, 83, of Cashiers, passed away in Asheville, North Carolina, on May 7th, 2024.

Gary was born in Jackson County, the son of the late James Allen Brewer and Pearl Ella Mae Kinsey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Gusta Brewer, his siblings Gordon, Edwin, Eugene, Don, Harry, Ronnie, Wallace, and one sister, Leona.

He is survived by his sisters Dora Marie Rice and Shirley Rice, son Richie Allen Brewer, stepson James Dewey Brown, and stepdaughter Tabatha Rena Brown.

Gary was retired from his roofing business, Deep Valley Roofing. He was renowned for his hard work ethic and boundless generosity. He enjoyed writing poetry and had one of his poems published.

He adored Civil War and Old West history. Gary was a devoted Christian, strong in his faith, and a dedicated member of the Affirmative Word Tabernacle in Brevard, North Carolina.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 13, 2024, at Yellow Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Stewart Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 2:00 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Affirmative Word Tabernacle, 226 Calvert Road, Brevard, NC 28712.

Gary Brewer will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his generous spirit will live on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
