Gayle Elizabeth Rambo

Franklin, NC - Gayle Elizabeth Rambo, age 79, of Highlands, NC, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Angel Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Edna Fox. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, moved to Miami, Florida at the age of 20, where she later met and married her loving husband, Joe Rambo. During the marriage they purchased a cabin in 1975 on Buck Creek and in 1999 made it their permanent residence.

Gayle was an avid china painter, stay at home mother and part-time bookkeeper for the family business. She was a loving mother of five children and a devoted wife. She loved her church family at Bethel United Methodist Church in Franklin and was best known at church for her baking. She enjoyed the outdoors, family camping trips and was an avid football fan.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joe Rambo, one daughter, Cherole Lee Pennington of Waynesville, NC; four sons, Scott Volin and wife, Sherry of Homestead, FL; Ty Volin and wife, Karin and son Noah of Ft. Pierce, FL, Joseph Brad Rambo and Debbie of The Colony, TX; Dann Rambo and wife, Maria of Cutter Bay, FL; grandchildren, Joseph Rambo, Reed Rambo, Travis Rambo, Adam Rambo and Kylie Volin. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Katy Volin, three sisters and two brothers.

A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Sunday, December 29th at Bethel United Methodist Church at 4:00 pm with Pastor Matt Morris officiating and with Pastor Al Beck assisting.
