George Scheinder Bell
Franklin, NC - George Scheinder Bell, age 83, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born in Camden, New Jersey and was raised in Dover, Del. He moved to Macon Co. in 1965. He was the son of the late John Lewis and Elise Schneider Bell. He was married to the late Betty Keener Bell. He and his wife Betty owned and operated the Downtowner Restaurant, the City Restaurant, Bells Restaurant, and Bells Auction Barn. He was a licensed auctioneer, a volunteer for the county rescue squad. He flea marketed up to a month before his death, he was also known for his humor.
He is survived by four children, Melody Cooper and husband John; Georgeanna and husband Kenneth; Bill Bell and friend Linda Rowe; Cindy Hoffman; a companion Gale Harlan of 11 years; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
