George Martin "Bud" Hogsed

Franklin, NC- George Martin "Bud" Hogsed, age 63, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, May 11, 2012. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Evan Washington Hogsed and Louise Hamby Hogsed. He worked for the local power company for 38 years. He was a lifelong member and supporter of United Steel Workers Local #7202. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #094.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Selma J. Hogsed of Franklin; one son, Brad Hogsed and his wife Jennifer Hogsed; two grandchildren, George Samuel Hogsed and Emily Louise Hogsed, two sisters, Patricia Rutherford of Conway, SC and Kathy DeLay of Atlanta, GA; and one brother, Doug Hogsed of Franklin. To the many friends Bud left behind, a final message: It all pays the same.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Timothy Hogsed and Rev. Vic Greene officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Bud requested donations be made to Care Net of Macon County, 130 Bidwell St., Franklin, NC; Angel Hospice. 170 Church Street, Franklin, NC 28734, Toys for Tots at www.franklin-nc.toysfortots.org; or any other charity of personal choosing that benefits residents of Macon County in lieu of flowers.
