George Washington Corpening
Franklin, NC - George Washington Corpening, age 89, of Franklin, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in a local nursing home.
He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late William Robert and Myrtle Lewis Corpening. He was a produce farmer, and a member of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sisters, Jane Brannon and her husband Curtis of Charles Town, WV and Kay Corpening of Franklin, NC; two brothers, Bert Corpening of Cumming, GA and Frank Corpening of Franklin, NC; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 14th at 11:00 am at Mount Zion Cemetery, with Rev. Tim Hayes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Macon Co. Relay for Life, PO Box 1648, Franklin, NC 28744.
Bryant-Grant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
