Georgianna Stephens-Smith, 78, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, January 23, 2026. She was born July 7, 1947, in Clarksburg, WV to the late Carl Marti & Mary Louise Bragg Marti.

Georgianna taught school for twenty six years at Immanuel Lutheran School in Brandon, Florida before retiring. She then moved to Franklin, NC in 2014 where she eventually became a very active member of Hickory Knoll Methodist Church in Franklin where she helped with the Saturday morning community breakfast, conducted Bible studies, sang in the Choir and also worked in the prison ministry. She wrote letters to soldiers and loved the military. Georgianna was an artist who loved watercolor painting, and taking dance classes at the Carpenter Center in Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, Ancil Stephens, and is survived by her only daughter, Corena and husband David Martin, her grandchildren, Luke and Caleb Martin; her sister, Beverly Lowe; niece and nephew, Andrea and Keith Lowe; and a special friend, John McCrae.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only son, Army Captain Kevin Joseph Smith, a Purple Heart recipient.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on February 28th, at 11:00 AM at Hickory Knoll Methodist Church, 86 E Hickory Knoll Rd, Franklin, NC 28734.
