Gilmer Harry Henson

Franklin, NC -Gilmer Harry Henson, age 85, of Otto, NC passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at an Asheville Hospital. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late Lonnie and Ora Norris Henson. He was a Veteran of the US Army. He owned and operated a dairy farm for over 40 years and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna Howard Henson; two sons, Barry Henson and Scott Henson and his wife, Rhonda Caudill Henson of Otto, NC; one granddaughter, Jessica Henson; one sister, Roberta Palmer of Marysville, CA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Grant and Maybur Norton and two brothers, Ralph and Calvin Henson.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 28 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Corle and Rev. Janet Greene officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the Asbury United Methodist Cemetery. Kevin Fountain, Kevin Payne, Tony Norris, Ryan Angel, Steve Henson Gary Henson and Ralph Henson, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 27 from 6:00-8:00PM at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church or Cemetery Fund, PO Box 113, Otto, NC 28763.
