Giovanna Laura Rizzo

Franklin - Giovanna Laura Rizzo, 86, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015, in Fairview, at her daughter's home. Mrs. Rizzo was born on July 21, 1928, in New York City (Manhattan) to the late Vincent Ventura and Giovanna (Jennie) Saya Ventura. Giovanna Rizzo was married to the late Salvatore Rizzo, who preceded her in 1983. She worked for fifteen years at Walmart and spent most of her working life as a bookkeeper. She was very family oriented and loved reading, writing, drawing, painting, and cooking. Mrs. Rizzo was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include her three daughters and three sons: Maryellen Lo Bosco, of Long Island, New York; Salva Maria Atkin (Richard) of Asheville, North Carolina; Rosemarie Rizzo of Pembroke Pines, Florida; Rocco Lo Bosco of Long Island, New York; Peter Rizzo (Dawn) of Franklin, North Carolina; and Joseph Rizzo (Annette) of Bayside, New York. Her grandchildren are Diana, Anthony, Gina, Juliane, Joseph, Matthew, Natalie, Salvatore, Marisa, and Antony; her five great grandchildren are Ricky, Gabriel, Savannah, Harper, and Julien.

She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Gabriella Ledford.

A Roman Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, with Father Tien Duong officiating. The family will receive friends 6 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 31, 2015, at the Bryant Grant Funeral Home in Franklin.
