In Loving Memory of Gladys Jacobs
Its hard to find the right words to describe someone as incredible as, Gladys Jacobs. She was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1940, and even from the beginning, she carried a strength and independence that would define her life. In 1949, she and her mother, Maria, came to the United States, starting a new chapter in New York City. It was there that she met her first husband, the father of all her children, and began building the beautiful family that became her greatest legacy.
Eventually, life led her to Miami, Florida, where she met Richard — the love of her life and her partner in adventure. They shared a love for driving around and looking at property, which eventually led them to the plateau. It was there they planted roots and created a place for the whole family to grow. Her kids followed, raising their own children in the same place that became the heart of so many cherished memories.
Gladys was nothing short of extraordinary. She was independent and fearless a businesswoman who owned beauty salons and somehow still found time to earn a black belt in karate. She always made sure her daughters and granddaughters knew their worth and never let a man walk all over them advice we’ve carried with us every day.
Gladys had a curious mind and a creative soul. She loved watching cooking shows, always discovering new recipes and techniques to share with the family. She also had a passion for art, she could spend hours painting and drawing, finding peace and expression in her creations. History fascinated her, and she loved watching the History Channel, always eager to learn more about the past and share her knowledge with us.
Gladys is survived by her four children Diana, Vincent, Regina, and Kevin, and her love continues to live on through her grandchildren: Jennifer, Jose, Cristina, Taylor, Anthony, Gabriella, Kylie, Kayden, and James, and her great-grandchildren: Victoria, Isabella, Lilly, and Stella. Though her physical presence is gone, her strength, wisdom, and love will forever guide us.
We love you. Thank you for showing us how to be strong, how to love, and how to live without fear. You will always be with us.
