Franklin, NC - On Wednesday evening Heavens Gates opened to welcome Glenn L. Whittaker home to Heaven. Glenn was 74, and lived on Zurich Circle in Franklin, NC.

The son of Pearl Smith Whittaker and Vance Whittaker. He was a Rabun County, GA Deputy Sheriff. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Eastern Star, York Rite and Scottish Rite. He is prec-deceased by his father. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Colleen Largent Whittaker, daughters, Diane Johnson, Stephen City, VA, Anita Carpenter of Fairbanks, Asonya Brown, Columbus, Ohio and Alana Hayes, Ormond Beach, FL; sons, Ricky Whittaker, Marion, VA, Tim Whittaker of Stephen City, VA, Charles McKinney, Houston, TX; sister, Sandra Baker and brother-in-law, Rev. Eugene Baker; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and nieces Andrea and Kendra, along with several cousins, and friend Kenny.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 5th at 6:30pm at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Franklin. A family Celebration of Life in Winchester, VA will be held Sunday, April 11,at 3:00PM at Bethany Baptist Church in Winchester, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colleen Whittaker, 222 Zurich Circle, Franklin,NC 28734, for medical expenses.
