Franklin - Harry Lee Cole, age 75, of Franklin, NC, went home to his Heavenly Father, Tuesday, September 4, 2012. He was born April 22, 1937 to Clint Ancel Cole and Eunice Lucille Mason Cole of Macon County. Harry served 4 years in the US Navy in the United States and Italy from 1957 to 1961. He finished at the top of his class in radioman school. He was a member of South Macon Baptist Church, and was employed as an engineer with Lee's Carpets, Burlington Industries and Fruit of the Loom for a total of 41 years. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved fishing, friends, gardening and home. To him God was first, then family and country.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Ann Ray Cole, son, Joseph Allen Cole and wife Cordy of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Tom Cole and wife Betty of Franklin, NC and Wayne Cole and wife Shirley of Marietta, GA; one sister, Joyce Stanford and husband Tom of Travelers Rest, SC. Four grandchildren, two great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6th at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronnie Owens, Rev. Doyle Patterson and Rev. Carl Ashlock officiating. Burial will be at Wells Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Buck Chastain, Jimmy Nixon, Doug Adams, Erwin Gribble, Fritz Vinson and Arnold Dietz. The Franklin VFW Post #7337 and American Legion Post #108 will conduct military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service at Bryant Grant Funeral Home.
