Franklin, NC - Harry Lee Yoder, age 64, of Franklin, NC formerly of Brunswick County, NC passed away Friday, September 21, 2012. Born in Durham, NC he was the son of the late Francis Marion and Hallie Claiborne Yoder. He was a flight medic for the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Yoder had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed visiting all his friends in Franklin; he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Eastern Carolina University; he started working for the State of North Carolina as a parole officer; then a probation parole officer; then a parole hearing officer until retirement. Following his retirement he was Veterans Service Officer in Brunswick County, NC where he helped many veterans. He was a member of Franklin VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 994; he was past commander of VFW Post in Supply, NC and senior vice-commander of VFW Post 7339 in Franklin. He was a very active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, Rebecca Wetta Yoder, he is survived by two sisters, Betty Gilliam and Frances Yoder both of Hendersonville, NC and a brother, Bill Yoder of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral mass will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Tien Duong officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Franklin VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 will perform military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be members of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 994. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 299 Maple Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
