Hattie Lorena (Slagle) Shope

Mrs. Hattie Lorena Slagle Shope, 102, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Shope was born July 27, 1913 in Macon County to the late A.B. Slagle and Adelaide Slagle. She was the widow of the late Jess Edgar Shope who preceded her. Ms. Hattie was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt; She was also a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son, Edgar "Bud" Shope of Franklin, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; a granddaughter, Angela Dawn Shope; three sisters, Elizabeth Patton, Ruth Ross, and Virginia Butler; and a brother, Charles Slagle.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Susan German officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00‑2:00 P.M. prior to the service.
