Hazel (Cline) Sawyer

Hazel Cline Sawyer, 89, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024.  She was born June 30, 1935, in Swain County, NC to the late Frank and Mary Pegg Cline.

Hazel was saved and baptized as a young lady.  She loved her family and genealogy.  She also loved music and dancing.  She worked until her late 70's.  She had worked at Farm Bureau, secretary at the unemployment office and over the genealogy department in Bryson City.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Sherrill (Donna) and Barry Sawyer (Kelly); a daughter, Angie Watkins; three grandchildren, Issac Sawyer, Trenton Sawyer and Nerissa Woodard; two great-grandchildren, Lane Sellers, and Laycee Woodard and many nieces and nephews.  three siblings, Katherine Styles, Kenneth Cline (Terry) and Charles Cline (JoEllen).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Samantha Kirkland and a brother, Nat Cline.

A funeral service will be held at Thomas Chapel Community Church in Bryson City, NC, Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Gary McDaniel and Rev. Brandon Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
