Helen A. “Beckie” Garrett

Franklin, NC - Helen A. “Beckie” Garrett, age 99 of Valparaiso, IN and formerly of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014. She was born on October 2, 1915 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Fey) Becker. Beckie graduated from Valparaiso High School and had worked for Mox Ruge Law Office, Valparaiso First State Bank, and a term as Porter County Recorder. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valparaiso and had been a member and secretary at the First Baptist Church of Franklin.

On January 23, 1948 in Owensboro, KY, Beckie married Nobel “Slim” Garrett who preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Art and George and 4 sisters, Geneva, Dorothy, Catherine, and Pauline. Beckie is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, November 2nd at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Franklin, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Valparaiso Care and Rehabilitation Center 606 Wall St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
