Herby Dillard "Shorty" Nicholson, Jr

Franklin, NC - Herby Dillard "Shorty" Nicholson, Jr., age 85, of Byhalia, Mississippi, formerly of Macon County, NC passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Monetta, SC, the son of the late Herby Dillard Nicholson, SR and Gazette Pauline Rogers Nicholson. He was a dairy farmer and timberman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Kimsey Nicholson.

He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Mary Lou Allen; his daughter, Reva Hake of Columbia, MO; his son Rex Nicholson of Pass Christian, MS; three sisters, Olga Huscusson, Eoline McCoy and her husband, Tommy and Ruth Crawford and her husband Burt all of Franklin, NC; one brother, Grady Byron Nicholson and wife Margie Shook Nicholson of Otto, NC. Four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 18, at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Dendy and Rev. Burt Crawford officiating . Burial will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 18 from 1:00 2:00PM, one hour prior to service at Bryant Grant Funeral Home.
