Howard "Howie" R. Carley

Howard R. “Howie” Carley, 74, of Franklin, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 14, 2024. Born in Kane, Pennsylvania on August 7, 1949 to the late Paul Carley Sr. and Veronica (Caskey).

Howard will be remembered as a follower of Jesus Christ, a loving husband and father, a staunch Trump Republican, and a generous and helpful neighbor and friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand and share a good story. A manufacturing manager by profession, Howard was a talented carpenter and a real “Mr. Fix-it" who could build a deck or do all sorts of home repairs. He was a straight shooter who was known for his “Howard-isms,” but despite his strong opinions, was a kind and thoughtful man who wished the best for everyone. A chance meeting at a PWP dance in Arlington, Texas led to a 38-year marriage to his beloved wife Joanne (Lemieux), who was his love, his companion, and his dance partner throughout life.

In addition to his wife Joanne, Howard is survived by his daughter Shelly Koehler of Tulsa, OK, son Jason Carley of Tulsa, OK, brothers Joseph Michael Carley of Franklin, NC, John “Munch” Carley (Betty) of Kane, PA and Paul “Jake” Carley (June) of Ludlow, PA; grandchildren Hunter Stevenson (Allen), Trenton Koehler, and Isabella Carley, and two great-grandchildren; sister-in- law Gail DeBendictis and her daughters Kathleen Kelly and Colleen Boles (Dan) of Justin, TX and their six children; his beloved dog Lily and many loving friends and extended family. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his brothers Tommy, Pat, Kenny, and Andy Carley.

A graveside service will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Addington Cemetery.
