Hoyt Allen Thomas Sr

Franklin, NC- Hoyt Allen Thomas Sr, age 82 of Otto, NC passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at a local nursing home. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late Harley and Fannie Bradley Thomas. He is survived by his wife Betty Norton Thomas of 60 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to saw lumber and he owned several saw mills.

He is survived by a son, Hoyt Allen Thomas Jr.”Roonie” and wife Dawn of Dillard, Ga, two daughters Elaine Hodgin and husband David of Otto, NC and Melissa Dills of Otto, NC; one sister Nancy Wilson of Brevard, NC; five grandchildren Shelly Finch, David Hodgin Jr., Neva A. Dills, Jonathan Reed and Keshia Reed; six great grandchildren Haylee Overholt, Alyssa Hodgin, Cody Hodgin, Braylee Reed, Bryson Reed and Braeden Reed. He was preceded in death by four sisters Hester Cabe, Beatrice Henson, Ivy Lee Rogers and Carrie Bell Chastain, two brothers Billy Thomas and J.D Thomas, and one son-in-law Denny Dills.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Mulberry United Methodist Church with Rev. Janet Greene and Rev. Aaron Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Mulberry Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Reed, Dave Hodgin, Cody Hodgin, Vic Chastain, Phil Chastain and Pat McCall.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Bryant Grant Funeral Home and also at the home of the daughter Melissa Dills at 10665 GA Rd. Otto, NC.
