Inez Solesbee

Inez Leora Solesbee, age 101, of Nantahala, NC went to be with her Lord and Saviour, February 28, 2016 at the home of her son, David of Nantahala.  She was the daughter of the late Tom and Effie Jane Younce Owenby, the wife of the late Claude Czar Solesbee, who died May 20, 1996.  She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Solesbee, two sisters, Julia Owenby (Newell) and Helen Waters, (Lawton), and one brother, Don Owenby.

She had worked as a seamstress and had worked  as a cook in the lunchroom at Otter Creek School.  She was a loving mother, grand, great and great‑great‑grandmother.  She was a very active member of Maco Crafts and she liked gardening.  She was a member of White Oak Flats Baptist church, where she was a former choir member.

She survived by a son, David Solesbee (Shelvagine) of Nantahala, NC; daughter‑in‑law, Kathryn of Franklin, NC; six grandchildren, thirteen great‑grandchildren and nineteen great-great‑grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm at White Oak Flats Baptist Church, with Rev. S. J. Waters and Rev. Homer Wilson officiating.  Burial will be at Aquone Baptist Church Cemetery.  Grand and great‑grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at White Oak Flats Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Bldg. One, Asheville, NC  28801.
