James Ralph Ballentine

Cashiers - James Ralph Ballentine, of Cashiers, NC formerly of Anderson, SC passed away Friday, August 15, 2014. Born in Shelby, NC, he was the son of the late James R. and Mabel Wakefield Ballentine. He retired with 30 years of service with Ralston-Purina Company. He was a 1952 graduate of Clemson University, and he was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid motorcycle rider, Ham radio operator, and loved to hunt. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Highlands where he served as a former Elder. Mr. Ballentine was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra Dickson Ballentine; son, Stephen A. Ballentine and his wife, Evelyn of Wake Forest, NC; four grandchildren, Allie, Lauren, Joshua and J.J. Ballentine. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Stokley and Jackie Stribling.

Memorial services will be held Monday, August 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Highlands with Rev. Curtis Fussell and Rev. Emily Welmarth officiating.
