James William Callahan

Franklin, NC-
Mr. James William Callahan, 79, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015, in Franklin. Mr. Callahan was born February 2, 1936, in Guilford County, NC to the late James Tyson and Alcie M. Britt Callahan. He graduated from Jamestown High School class of 1954 and he earned a Bachelor’s Degree   from Western Carolina University, graduating in 1958. He was a retired elementary school teacher having taught at Madie Ives Elementary School in N. Miami, Fl.; He was an avid antique collector and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Renee Callahan of Franklin; and Jamie Lin Callahan of Tacoma, Washington; three grandchildren, Seth Callahan Penland (Katie) of Flowery Branch, Ga., Patrick Cole Penland of Gainesville, Ga, and August Parker Penland  of Franklin; and two brothers, Robert T. Callahan (Angela) of Pompano Beach, Fl., and Donald W. Callahan (Sue) of High Point, NC.

The family thanks Grandview Manor Care Center and Life Path Hospice for the loving care of Grandpa Jim.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow in the cemetery there at Guilford Memorial Park.
