It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of James Victor Farmer, 82, Thursday, February 19, 2026, in Franklin, North Carolina. Born on January 14, 1944, in Laurel, Mississippi, James was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and grandfather.
James, Jimmy’, was a jack of all trades. He loved fishing along the beach, deep sea fishing with his buddies, vegetable gardens, beautiful flower beds, and his fish tanks. Although, his favorite pastime was NASCAR races, NFL, and baseball.
He worked for Ingalls Shipyard as a pipefitter for many years and then worked as a journeyman plumber until he retired. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as an airplane mechanic.
He leaves behind his wife, Tamie Packard Farmer of Moss Point, Mississippi; one daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Etter of Nevada, Iowa; two sons, Michael Farmer of Ohio, Paul Farmer of Virginia; two step-sons, Jeffrey(Fawna) Packard, Justin (Amber) Webb; sisters, Jeane Smith of Garner, North Carolina, Patti Duncan of Franklin, North Carolina, Barbara (Stan) Daughdrill of Franklin, North Carolina, Stephanie Oneal of Lucedale, Mississippi; brother, Todd Gunter of Lucedale, Mississippi; many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; his beloved pets, Sheba and Willy; along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Alan Farmer, Michael Gunter; brother in laws, Edward ‘Butch’ Smith, Victor Smith, Oliver Smith, Doug Duncan; one daughter, Samantha Opperman; two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Carter Opperman; two nephews, Brent Daughdrill, Eric Rasmussen.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Macon Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion.
There will be no services at this time.
