James Robert Lake

James Robert Lake, age 80, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, November 12, 2021. Known to many as Subaru Jim, he is the son of the late Meredith and Pauline Sneed. He was married to his wife of 51 years Judy Lake.

He got his nickname of “Subaru Jim” for his love of Subaru vehicles. He moved to the mountains of North Carolina in 1979. For over 31 years he owned and operated Lake Subaru which became Lake Auto. He was a United States Navy Veteran where he was a Frogman.

In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by one daughter Ann Mock and husband Jason; two grandchildren, Joseph Crane and Charles Mock; and Jason Copeland and wife Mary and their son Mason Copeland.

A memorial service in honor of Subaru Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
