Franklin, NC - James William Mathis Lambert, age 42, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, July 20, 2012. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late James Dudley and Helen Mae Bates Mathis. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served during Operation Desert Storm, was a landscaper and builder and liked fishing. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Pisgah High School.

Mr. Lambert is survived by his foster parents, Sam and Hillaine Lambert; foster sisters, Lyndsay, Rachel and Krisy of Cherokee, NC; one son, Sammy Lambert and Sammy's mother, Leysa Lambert of Sylva, NC; five sisters, Alma McClure, Peggy Roberts, Minnie Mathis, Jessica Webb all of Franklin, NC and Ann Mathis of Sylva, NC; two brothers, Ronnie Bates and Christopher Mathis both of Franklin, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Patty Mathis and a brother, Carl Bates.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Hurst officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Bryant Grant Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
