James Carl Mcgaha

James Carl McGaha, 79, of Franklin passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017. He was born in Macon County, the son of the late Boyd Charles and Joann Shepard McGaha. He was married to Margaret Mae McGaha who preceded him in death on May 3, 2016.

Mr. McGaha worked in construction all his life and was Minister of Freedom Baptist Church in Hartwell, GA for 11 years. He loved reading his Bible and feeding fish at the fish pond.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy McGaha Stewart (Bob) and Darlene Taylor all of Franklin; one son, Mark McGaha (Cindy) of Franklin; three sisters, Faye Johnson, Dot Jackson and Christine McGaha; two brothers, Johnny McGaha and Lyle McGaha; six step‑children and many grandchildren and great‑grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Michael McGaha.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2:30 pm in the chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with Pastor Hardy and Rev. Johnny McGaha officiating. Burial will follow in Black Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kelvin Taylor, Daniel Dowdy, Bubba Turpin, David McCoy, Isaiah Grasty, Bob Stewart and Mike Clark. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 ‑ 2:30 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
