Franklin, NC - James M. Scholten, 62, of Franklin, NC formerly of Augusta, ME died Saturday, October 26, 2013. He was born in Waukegan, IL, raised in Augusta, ME and graduated from Cony High School in 1969. Mr. Scholten served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War as a Radioman 2nd class (RM2) aboard the USS Forrest Sherman DD931.

He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, former member of American Legion, Sons of the American Revolution, American Radio Relay League, International Society of Certified Electronic Technicians, Society of Broadcast Engineers, National Association of Business and Educational Radio, past president of the Walt Disney World Amateur Radio Club and AD1V Extra Class Ham Radio Operator. First Class FCC Radiotelephone licensed RADAR endorsed and certified in seven fields of electronics, he had careers in Two-Way radio communications with the State of Maine, Central Maine Power and Walt Disney World Companies. He was also a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

A graveside service will be held at Black Mountain Veteran’s Cemetery, Friday, November 1, 2013 at 12:00 noon, with Father Boyd officiating.
