James Marselle Shuler, 92, of Franklin, NC, passed away April 24, 2022. He was born in Macon County, on the head of Cowee, January 10, 1930 to the late Don Lee Shuler and Virgie Long Shuler.
Mr. Shuler was a longtime employee of Nantahala Creamery/Biltmore Dairy and Bumgarner Electric. He loved gardening, talking about the old days, playing and listening to music. He also loved his wife, son, and grandchildren. He was a member of Iotla Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 63 years, Arbutus Clampitt Shuler, who died in 2013; brothers, Weaver Shuler, JM Shuler, Harold Shuler, and Paul Shuler, and sister, Mary Bell Shuler.
Survivors include his son, Jim Shuler (Ginny) of Franklin, NC; grandchildren, Amanda Shuler of Whittier, NC, Jamie Shuler of Franklin, NC and Eric Shuler of Indiana; great-grandchildren, Cody, Whitney, Makayla and Brandon Shuler all of Franklin, NC; several great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Peek and Donna Holden both of Franklin, NC and Virginia Peek of Johnson City, TN; three brothers, Charles Shuler (Margaret), Jerry Shuler (Judy) and Dwight Shuler (Trudy) all of Franklin, NC; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Iotla Baptist Church, with Rev. Brandon Breedlove and Rev. Steve Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery, 1537 Iotla Church Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
